Competitor Tracking allows you to see how other Instagram accounts are doing, in terms of Followers, Posts, Likes and Comments.
Use this feature to understand what competitors are posting, what their performance is like and how their follower numbers have evolved over time.
At the top left you have 5 main metrics, shown as numbers:
- Total Medias – The total amount of content across all your tracked Instagram accounts: images, carousels & videos.
- Total Images – The total amount of images across all your tracked Instagram accounts.
- Total Videos – The total amount of videos across all your tracked Instagram accounts.
- Total Carousels – The total amount of carousels across all your tracked Instagram accounts.
There are 3 main sections:
- Competitors – All the competitor’s Instagram accounts you’ve added, with Followers, Follows and Medias count.
- Overview – Comparison between your account and the selected competitor’s Instagram account – Posts, Likes, Comments.
- Content – All the pieces of content from your selected competitor’s Instagram account and time period.
The top right of the Competitors section allows you to add a new competitor by clicking the “Add competitor” button. This takes you to the New Query screen. You can find more details on how to create a Query in its associated support article.
You can also search for competitors by using the dedicated field underneath the “Add competitor” button.
Sort existing competitors in this screen by using the dropdown on the left side called “Sort by”. You can select one of these options:
- Most recent
- Most followers
- Most posts
The Overview section shows analytics for:
- Competitor’s Instagram Medias – The most recent pieces of content from your competitor’s Instagram account.
- Post History – The total number of medias posted by your competitors, by day, compared with your selected Instagram account (based on your date range and competitor(s) selections).
- Likes History – The total number of likes gathered by the medias posted by your competitors, by day, compared with your selected Instagram account (based on your date range and competitor(s) selections).
- Comments History – The total number of comments gathered by the medias posted by your competitors, by day, compared with your selected Instagram account (based on your date range and competitor(s) selections).
- Competitor likes – The total number of likes gathered by the medias posted by your competitors (based on your date range and competitor(s) selection).
- Competitor comments – The total number of comments gathered by the medias posted by your competitors (based on your date range and competitor(s) selection).
- Medias posted – Total number of medias posted by your competitors in the selected interval (choose the date range interval and the accounts from the top-right page filter).
- Photos posted – Total number of photos posted by your competitors in the selected interval (choose the date range interval and the accounts from the top-right page filter).
- Videos posted – Total number of videos posted by your competitors in the selected interval (choose the date range interval and the accounts from the top-right page filter).
- Carousels posted – Total number of carousels posted by your competitors in the selected interval (choose the date range interval and the accounts from the top-right page filter).
- Competitor Posts – The total number of medias posted by your competitors compared with your selected Instagram account (based on your date range and competitor(s) selections).
- Repartition by media type – The total number of medias posted by your competitors, by type, compared with your selected Instagram account (based on your date range and competitor(s) selections).
The Content section shows you all the content pieces from the competitor’s Instagram account. You see their stats (likes, comments), as well as posted date. You can click also on each of them to see the full post and the associated caption.
This section also provides a set of filters that are accessible in the top right. Tap on the “Filters” button to see what competitor accounts are being shown and what date range is selected. Any change you make will take effect only if you click the “Apply filters” button. The trashcan icon next to the “Filters” button clears all filters.
